Chapter 26, Problem 3CT
Summary Introduction

To answer:

The effect describes the fact that the microbiome (intestinal) of humans is stable over time (even intake of new microbes through food).

Introduction:

Microbiomes comprise fungi, bacteria, archaea, and viruses which are present only in a particular locale. They are seen in the human body in the form of diverse complex structure. These microbes have a mutualistic relationship with the humans. This microbial community is also seen in the plants and animals. Microbes thrive in microhabitats (within the greater habitats), in the environs. Ecosystems are formed by the interaction of habitats and organisms together. Single cells replicate and give rise to populations, which give rise to guilds. Guilds together give rise to a community of organisms or microbiome.
