The reason as to why cystic fibrosis was originally thought to be a perfect disease for the use of gene therapy is to be explained.

Concept Introduction:

Cystic fibrosis is a type of genetic disease that damages lungs and digestive system. A sticky mucous is secreted in the lungs of infected person. It is a chronic disease and can lead to death of the infected person.

Gene therapy is the technique used to cure genetic disease by replacing the defected gene with the corrected gene.
