Chapter 26, Problem 13A
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Ex vivo which means the modification in the cell which perfumed outside of the body or exterior then transplant back in again into the body. In the case of gene therapy in clinical trials, cells from the patient’s are removed and grown in the laboratory. These cells are exposed to the virus that is introducing the desired gene with proper function. After exposure, the virus enters into the cells and desired gene inserts to the cell’s DNA. Afterward, these cells properly grow in the laboratory and then return to the patient body by injection into a vein. This process of transplantation of gene of gene therapy is called ex vivo because the cells are treated or modified outside the body.
