Introduction:

Different plant parts are modified to perform specialized functions or support the survival of the plant in adverse conditions. The stem can be modified to store food, impart buoyancy to aquatic plants. Leaves are sometimes modified to reduce water loss. Some parts of the plants are both specialized as well as modified in structure and function.
