Summary Introduction

Introduction: The thyroid gland is composed of two lobes, and it is located in the neck. It secretes thyroid hormones (TH), such as triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Thyroxine (T4) is made up of two iodinated molecules of tyrosine amino acid. The released TH consists of about 10% T3 and 90% T4. TH regulates alertness, growth, and reproduction.
