To describe: The reproductive cycle of a retrovirus, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Introduction: Retroviruses are the type of viruses that have ribonucleic acid (RNA) as the genetic material, which is produced by reverse transcription by an enzyme called deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) polymerase, also known as reverse transcriptase. During this process, the RNA is transcribed into a DNA intermediate. Human immunodeficiency virus is a retrovirus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).
