Introduction:

Microbes are ubiquitous in nature. They are present almost everywhere on the Earth.  Microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses are found everywhere. Microbes that can cause disease are termed as pathogens or the infectious causative agents.

When infectious causative agents transmitted from either a portal of exit or a reservoir to the portal of entry of another host is termed as disease transmission. When the infectious agent crosses the barriers and defense systems of the host’s immune system and proliferates successfully leads to cause “infection”. When microbes are present on the surface of the skin, it is termed as “contamination.
