Case summary:
The nursing student is caring for a 72-year-old female patient Mrs. B. The student nurse got an opportunity to catheterize the patient, under the supervision of the nursing instructor. The student nurse reviews the procedure and performs the procedure. While performing the procedure, a comment from the patient made her realize that she had contaminated the catheter. The student needs to make decisions like whether she had to admit that she had done a mistake and start with a new order or continue with the procedure as if nothing had happened.
