Introduction:

Water is a renewable but not inexhaustible source of energy on earth. The water constantly moves from land to atmosphere in the water cycle. Out of all the water on Earth, only 1% is present as freshwater in the aquifers and as land water in rivers, springs, and ponds; 97% is in the form of salt water in oceans and seas; 2% is trapped as polar ice and is not easily available for human consumption.
