Interpretation: The diffusivity of solutes in a liquid mixture is to be determined by various models.
Concept Introduction: The diffusivities of liquid species in the mixture (that is of solute in solvent) are determined by various theoretical models, two of which are namely, Wilke-Chang and Scheibel equations. Both models are based on the molar properties of interactive species. Wilke-Chang, in particular, theorizes this by investigating the association parameter for various solute species in infinite dilute solutions. More interestingly, both models apply to non-electrolyte solutions.
