Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The pathway that would convert long-chain alcohol into a product suitable to enter $\text{β-oxidation}$ has to be proposed.

Concept Introduction:

$\text{β-oxidation}$ is essentially the process of degradation of fatty acid into two-carbon acetyl-CoA. In each cycle of $\text{β-oxidation}$ one fatty acid is converted to acetyl CoA and an acyl derivative of fatty acid with two carbons lesser than the initial fatty acid. The precursor for $\text{β-oxidation}$ is an activated fatty acid molecule called fatty acyl CoA.
