Summary Introduction

To compare: The size of the somatosensory cortex that represents the fingertips of a visually impaired person with that of someone with normal vision having normal tactile sensitivity.

Introduction: The primary somatosensory cortex is a part of the cerebral cortex. Based on the multiple histological criteria, it is defined and identified with the mediation of sensations that were originated from the skin, muscles, and joints of the body. The main function of the primary somatosensory cortex is to detect somatic sensations such as touch, temperature, proprioception, and nociception.
