Question
Chapter 23, Problem 16P
Summary Introduction
To determine: The effect on weight of mutant and normal mouse, if a mutant mouse (ob/ob) and a normal mouse (OB/OB) were made parabiotic.
Concept introduction:
Parabiosis is a surgical method in which two organisms share a single circulatory system. Probiosis is achieved by attaching the skin of two organisms which will lead to microvasculature at the place of infection. Parabiotic partners will be free of severe immune response because they share their antigen through circulatory pathway.

What is the importance of glutamic acid in the metabolism of nitrogen from amino acids? (we know therole; it’s used to remove the nitrogen from amino acids so that the remaining carbon skeleton can bebroken down by the “usual” pathways, but what is the important, unique role that only glutamicacid/glutamate can do?)
