Introduction:
The shape of the ecological or the biological pyramid is either a triangle or spindle. In the ecological pyramid, the successive layer is smaller as compared to the level below it. This is because the energy always flows in a single direction, and only 10% (percent) of the energy is transferred to the successive layer. When the energy reaches the top levels, it is very low to support many organisms, thus, result in lowering the number of the organisms at each trophic level.
