Painful sores in the genital areas are genital ulcers. Genital ulcers are usually caused by sexually transmitted diseases. Signs and symptoms of genital ulcers are enlarged lymph nodes in the genital areas. Vesicular lesion might also develop. Vesicular lesions are small and elevated blisters.
