Ethylene refers to a small hydrocarbon gas, also known as the ripening hormone. It occurs naturally, but it can also take place as an outcome of combustion and other procedures. One cannot smell or see it. Certain fruits produce ethylene at the time of ripening, for example, pears and apples. The ethylene hormone is accountable for the modifications in texture, color, softening, and other procedures taking part in the process of ripening in both the fruits and plants.
