Angela's Pet Shop is considering the purchase of a new delivery van. Angela Smith, owner of the shop, has compiled the following
estimates in trying to determine whether the delivery van should be purchased:
Cost of the van
Annual net cash flows
Salvage value
Estimated useful life
Cost of capital
Present value of an annuity of 1

Angela's assistant manager is trying to convince Angela that the van has other benefits that she hasn't considered in the initial
estimates. These additional benefits, including the free advertising the store's name painted on the van's doors will provide, are
expected to increase net cash flows by $500 each year.

After reading through the information I'm a little confused on a few of the equations and why and where they pull info from each of the answers. After reading through the problem the three things needed are:
A. Operating Income (annual) for the new WSM service?
B1. What annual operating income can WSM expect from adopting Internet ticket sales? (More info is in the picture attached in the b-1. section)
C. Ignoring the information in requirement (b), how many discounted tickets would WSM have to sell annually to earn an operating income of $4,800,000? Assume that the annual number of flights remains at 1,400 and that the discounted tickets would be evenly divided across the 1,400 flights.
Consider a telecommunication service provider. You have the following quarterly data:

- The regional transit authority for a major metropolitan area wants to determine whether there is a relationship between the age of a bus and the annual maintenance cost. A sample of 10 buses resulted in the following data: Develop a scatter chart for these data. What does the scatter chart indicate about the relationship between age of a bus and the annual maintenance cost? Use the data to develop an estimated regression equation that could be used to predict the annual maintenance cost given the age of the bus. What is the estimated regression model? Test whether each of the regression parameters β0 and β1 is equal to zero at a 0.05 level of significance. What are the correct interpretations of the estimated regression parameters? - Jensen Tire Auto is deciding whether to purchase a maintenance contract for its new computer wheel alignment and balancing machine. Managers feel that maintenance expense should be related to usage, and they collected the following information on weekly usage (hours) and annual maintenance expense (in hundreds of dollars). a. Develop a scatter chart with weekly usage hours as the independent variable. What does the scatter chart indicate about the relationship between weekly usage and annual maintenance expense? b. Use the data to develop an estimated regression equation that could be used to predict the annual maintenance expense for a given number of hours of weekly usage. What is the estimated regression model? c. Test whether each of the regression parameters 0 and 1 is equal to zero at a 0.05 level of significance. Prepare a cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis of the proposal's financial implications. 1. Specifically, prepare an analysis that includes the projected revenue, variable costs, and fixed costs for enrollment levels of 20, 25, 30 and 37 students using the monthly projections in Attachment A of the case. 2. Then, compute the weighted average contribution margin (CM) per student (computed as the total CM divided by the number of students enrolled) and 3. The number of students that need to enroll at each of the four levels of enrollment for the center to break even. For this analysis, I have provided an Excel template in which I have already sorted variable and fixed costs: I have included the raw data. Note: Your enrollment information has already been weighted so you will not need to calculate weights for your weighted average CM.arrow_forwardCurrent Designs faces a number of important decisions that require incremental analysis. Recently, Mike Cichanowski, owner and CEO of Current Designs, received a phone call from the president of a brewing company. He was calling to inquire about the possibility of Current Designs producing "floating coolers" for a promotion his company was planning. These coolers resemble a kayak but are about one-third the size. They are used to float food and beverages while paddling down the river on a weekend leisure trip. The company would be interested in purchasing 120 coolers for the upcoming summer. It is willing to pay $255 per cooler. The brewing company would pick up the coolers upon completion of the order. Mike met with Diane Buswell, controller, to identify how much it would cost Current Designs to produce the coolers. After careful analysis, the following costs were identified. Direct materials Direct labor $83 /unit $57 /unit Variable overhead Fixed overhead $21 /unit $1.200 Current…arrow_forward
