To review:
The following, regarding a cross between a pig pair, whose tail were 6 (Harvey) and 30 centimeter (Erma) in length.
(a) The mode of inheritance of tail in the progeny, number of gene pairs involved, and designation of genotypes of the parents and their 18 cm tail offspring (F1).
(b) The phenotypic ratio of a cross between 18 cm tail F1 pig and 6 cm tail F2 pig giving a cross diagrammatically.
Introduction:
In the given case, two pigs were bred whose tail were 6 and 30 cm in length. Their F1 generation bore piglets with 18 cm tail. The F2 generation of the inbred bore piglets with tails in the range of 6-30 cm, each at an interval of 4 cm (6, 10, 14, 18, 26, and 30). A majority of the F2 offspring had 18 cm tail and 1/64 had 6 and 30 cm tail.
