  • To represent a chemical reaction in a symbolic form is said to be chemical equation.
  • In this equation we can represent reactants in left-hand side of the arrow mark and products in right-hand side of the arrow mark.
  • We can put coefficients before the reactants and products to balance the equation.
  • The first chemical equation was given by Jean Beguin in 1615.

Neutralization:

  • Neutralization is a chemical reaction in which an acid and base reacts in equal amounts with each other.
  • Neutralization reaction indicates that there is no excess amount of hydrogen ion or hydroxide ion in the reaction solution.
