Between sodium acetate and sodium chloride, sodium acetate reacts with water.

C2H3O2-(aq) + H2O(l) HC2H3O2(aq) + OH-(aq)

Equilibrium constant for water gives Kb ,

KbKwKa=1.00 x 10-141.7 x 10-5=5.882×10-10

The equilibrium constant expression for above reaction is,

Kb[HC2H3O2][OH-][C2H3O2-]=(x)2[C2H3O2-]o- x=5.882×10-10

By using the pOH , the x value is calculated as

pOH = 14.00 - pH  = 14.00 - 9.03 = 4.97x= [OH-] = 10-pOH= 10-4.97= 1.071×10-5M

By rearranging the equilibrium constant expression we get acetate ion concentration.

[C2H3O2-]o=x(x)2Kb= 1.071×10-5M+(1.071 × 10-5)25.882 × 10-10 = 0.1952M

The amount of sodium acetate present in given sample is

(0.1952M)×(25.0×10-3L)×1 mol NaC2H3O21 mol C2H3O2-×82.034 g1 mol NaC2H3O2 = 0.400 g

The percentage of sodium acetate present in given sample is

=0.400 g0.613 g×100%=65%
