Explanation of Solution

The electrons that areemitted from high energy level to the low energy level are called auger electrons.

The mechanism of the production of an LMM Auger electron consists of the formation of an ion which is excited electronically. The ion is excited after the removal of an electron from the L shell. Due to the removal, there is vacancy and the vacant place is filled by the electron from the high energy level. This high energy level electron comes from the outer shells such as M shell. During the transferring of electron from the higher energy level to the lower energy level, the energy is liberated to the other electron of the same shell. This energy is used to overpower the binding energy. Therefore, the other electron is ejected, called as an LMM auger electron.
