The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland situated below Adam’s apple in the neck region. It secretes two hormones which are essential for the regulation of important body functions. The secretions of the thyroid hormones are controlled by the pituitary gland in the brain. This is in turn controlled by the hypothalamus.
