Formula and net charge of the complex ion that is formed when Cr3+  bonded to two ammonia molecules, two water molecules, and two hydroxide ions has to be determined.

Concept Introduction:

In coordination compounds, central metal ion is the one that is present inside the coordination sphere.  The metal ion is placed inside the brackets.  To the central metal ion, ligands are bonded through coordinate covalent bonds.  In coordination compounds, complex ions are the one that are present inside the bracket.  Counter ions are the one that is present outside the bracket.
