Introduction:
The red blood cells (RBCs) or erythrocytes are biconcave-shaped cells, which contain hemoglobin for oxygen transport. These cells lack a nucleus, mitochondria, ribosomes, and other organelles. The oxygen is transported to the tissues from the lungs and carbon dioxide to the lungs from the tissues. The RBCs are produced in the red bone marrow and have 120 days of life expectancy.
