Concept introduction:

The filtration of blood takes place inside the Bowman’s capsule. The smaller solutes easily pass through the filtration membrane while the cells and plasma proteins are excluded from the filtrate.

The glomerular filtrate is similar in composition to that of blood, except for the plasma proteins and cells.

The composition of the glomerular filtrate and urine that is excreted differs due to reabsorption that occurs when filtrate moves along the renal tubules.
