Summary Introduction

Introduction:

All biological membranes consist of phospholipid bilayer structure and embedded proteins. Lipid is involved in formation of membrane architecture that is phospholipids, glycolipids, and cholesterol. The phospholipids and glycolipids are hydrophilic and hydrophobic in nature. In an aqueous solution, phospholipids tend to have their hydrophilic phosphate heads facing outwards and the two hydrophobic fatty acid tails are arranged to face each other in the middle, hence forming a bilayer. Thus, the outer layer of the lipid bilayer is hydrophilic while inner area come within the layers is hydrophobic.
