Chapter 2, Problem 1PC
Look at the following list of Latin words and their meanings.
The Latin Translator Problem
Create an application that translates the Latin words to English. The form should have three buttons, one for each Latin word. When the user clicks a button, the application should display the English translation in a Label control. The screens shown in Figure 2-97 show an example of the application running. The top-left screen shows the application when it starts. The other screens show the application after the user has clicked one of the buttons.

The characteristics of controls, much like the properties of other controls, decide whether or not the control will be shown on the form while it is being performed.
1. Sum of NumbersCreate an application that displays a form similar to the one shown in Figure 5-44. When the Enter Numbers button is clicked, the application should display the input box shown in Figure 5-45.The input box asks the user to enter a positive integer value. Notice that the default input value is 10. When the OK button is clicked, the application should display a message box with the sum of all the integers from 1 through the value entered by the user

- Dice Simulator Create an application that simulates rolling a pair of dice. When the user clicks a button, the application should generate two random numbers, each in the range of 1 through 6, to represent the value of the dice. Use PictureBox controls to display the dice. Programming Problems 263Figure 4-35shows an example of how the application’s form might appear. In the example, the user enters the distance to be converted into a TextBox. A ListBox allows the user to select the units being converted from, and another ListBox allows the user to select the units being converted to.arrow_forward
- This is for Visual Basic I and is not in a textbook. Create a Windows Form application. Use the following names for the project and solution, respectively: NFL Teams Project and NFL Teams Solution. Add any 6 NFL teams to a list box. When the user clicks a team in the list box, the list box’s SelectedIndexChanged procedure should display the State that the NFL Team is from in a label control. Example "Altanta Falcons" display Georgia, in the label. Look back at Chapter 5 for examples of list boxes. I need some help understanding it. My teacher gave this to me as a example question.arrow_forwardFor each of the following exercises, you may choose to write a console-based or GUI application, or both. Write a program for The Carefree Resort named ResortPrices that prompts the user to enter the number of days for a resort stay. Then display the price per night and the total price. Nightly rates are $200 for one or two nights; $180 for three or four nights; $160 for five, six, or seven nights; and $145 for eight nights or more.arrow_forwardSpecifications: Lions, Tigers, and Bears Pet Clinic needs an application that displays basic services. The application should be designed with checkboxes to select the various services (such as office call, vaccination, grooming, etc). As each service is selected, the charge for the service should display in an associated label. (When the checkmark is removed, the amount should be removed). As each selection is made, the charges should be added into the total (a variable… consider scope), and displayed in a Total Due area on the application (currency format). Align all numeric data appropriately. Consider what should happen when the checkmark is removed. Include at least 8 services that your pet clinic performs. Include a Clear and Exit button. The clear should clear all checkboxes, appropriate labels, and the total variable. Use the standard Microsoft naming conventions for all controls. Include appropriate comments in your code. Develop a GPA calculator that follows the AOU regulations (AOU-OU Grade Scale) using C# programming language. The application asks the student to enter his numeric grade of each course and the course's credit hours. Accordingly, the application calculates the student's GPA after converting the numeric grade to letter grade. The GPA calculation should produce floating-point results. Display the results rounded to the nearest hundredth. You should store the letter grades of all student's courses in an array. The final grade of the student should be also calculated. Sample I/O Enter the course grade (-1 to end): 93 Enter the course credit hours: 3 Enter the course grade (-1 to end): 74 Enter the course credit hours: 2 Enter the course grade (-1 to end): 60 Enter the course credit hours: 3 Enter the course grade (-1 to end): -1 The grades of your courses…arrow_forwardFalling Distance When an object is falling because of gravity, the following formula can be used to determine the distance the object falls in a specific time period: d =1/2gt2 The variables in the formula are as follows: d is the distance in meters, g is 9.8, and t is the amount of time in seconds that the object has been falling. Create an application that allows the user to enter the amount of time that an object has fallen and then displays the distance that the object fell. The application should have a method named FallingDistance. The FallingDistance method should accept an object’s falling time (in seconds) as an argument. The method should return the distance in meters that the object has fallen during that time interval.arrow_forward
- design pattern question :- Using the state pattern, you have to implement an application that help track the item ordered from online shop. The client orders an item from online shop, then item can go to post office, then it will be delivered to the user home. Or the item after being ordered it goes to the post office, then the user will pick it up from the post office. In both cases; either take the item from the post office or has it delivered to the client's home represents the end of the process. The following formula can be used to determine a moving object’s kinetic energy: KE =1/2mv2 In the formula KE is the kinetic energy, m is the object’s mass in kilograms, and v is the object’s velocity in meters per second. Create an application that allows the user to enter an object’s mass and velocity and then displays the object’s kinetic energy. The application should have a method named KineticEnergy that accepts an object’s mass (in kilograms) and velocity (in meters per second) as arguments. The method should return the amount of kinetic energy that the object has.arrow_forwardIf a bounding box has size handles, what happens if you hover the mouse pointer over a corner or edge of the box?arrow_forward
