Explanation of Solution

The counselor self-awareness in ethical practice has a major role as they can understand the needs of their client. Self-awareness is an ability to appreciate both strengths and weakness of their own character. They are aware of their own needs and the influence of their own defenses, personal conflicts, areas of “unfinished business,” and vulnerabilities in their therapeutic work.

The counselor self-awareness is required as they are the people who show their responsibility to create self-awareness in other people. They experience a feel of satisfaction by helping people who undergo struggling to achieve self-understanding and by being with people who are willing to experience pain when they seek a healthier lifestyle. The addiction counselors are appreciated by being a part of the process to change others with substance abuse problems.
