Summary Introduction

To explain: Why at anaerobic conditions the consumption of glucose by cells is high and at aerobic conditions the glucose consumption by cells is low.

Concept introduction:

Catabolism of glucose continues in presence of oxygen (aerobic) or in absence of oxygen (anaerobic). Breakdown of glucose is examined at different oxygen concentrations in suspensions of aerobically or anaerobically growing cells. In aerobic condition glucose produce pyruvate and anaerobic condition it produces lactate.
