Concept Introduction: Rutherford’s nuclear theory was put forward to explain the structure of the atom. The postulates of Rutherford’s atomic theory are given below.
Most of the mass of atom and all of its positive charge is present in a small core called the nucleus.
Most of the volume of atom is empty space, throughout which negatively charged particles called electrons are dispersed.
The number of protons and the number of neutrons in an atom are equal.
