To explain:
The reason for mixing oil and water in the presence of detergents.
Introduction:
Detergent is the mixture of a surfactant. It is used for cleaning purposes and is more effective in hard water. The sulfonate present in the detergent does not bind to the calcium ions and the other ions present in hard water. The soap is less effective in the presence of hard water as its carboxylate group binds to these ions and forms the aggregate.
