Texas Ethics. In its Guide to Ethics the Texas Ethics Commission states
A state officer or employee should not accept or solicit any gift, favor, or service that might reasonably tend to influence the-officer or employee in the discharge of official duties or that the officer or employee knows or should know is being offered with the intent to influence the officer’s or
employee’s official conduct.
a. Imagine that you are a state representative. Do you believe it would be legal to accept a maximum campaign contribution from a person if you knew nothing about person except her name?

b. Describe a situation in which you (as a state representative) would accept a contribution because it clearly conforms with this guideline. Then describe a situation in which you would not accept a contribution because it clearly violates this guideline.
