Summary Introduction

Initially, the subsurface microbiology focused on comparatively shallow and easily available aquifer system reveals various populations of Bacteria and Archaea and restricted presence of fungi and protozoa. An underground layer of water bearing penetrable components such as gravel or fractured rocks is called as an aquifer. The microorganisms that are found in aquifers are metabolically vital and impact the chemistry of groundwater.
