Introduction:

Leukocytes are the white blood cells, as they lack the red-colored pigment, hemoglobin. They are classified into granulocytes and agranulocytes, based on the presence of granules in their cytoplasm. Granulocytes include neutrophils, basophils, and eosinophils, whereas monocytes and lymphocytes are agranulocytes. The process of formation of leukocytes in the born marrow is called leukopoiesis.
