Introduction:
The heart consists of four chambers (atria and ventricles) as paired chambers on either side. The atria and ventricles are guarded by valves in order to prevent the backflow of blood from the ventricles back to theatria. These valves are attached to the heart walls by specialized muscles and tendinous structures.
