Concept introduction: HIV is a retrovirus having RNA as a genetic material. HIV mainly attacks the immune cells, especially CD4 cells. CD4 cells play an essential role by protecting the body from any infection. Antiretroviral therapy is a method of suppressing or preventing HIV infection using drugs, e.g., Tenofovir, Zidovudine.
