Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Erythropoietin (EPO) is the protein that is synthesized in the liver only in the conditions when the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry oxygen to the tissues and organs that require oxygen. This condition is called hypoxia. It works by targeting the CFU-E (colony forming units-erythroblasts) to differentiate proerythroblast and basophilic erythroblasts into mature erythroblasts.
