Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The reason for the ability of large doses of ethanol in the prevention of toxicity caused by ethylene glycol has to be suggested.

Concept Introduction:

Certain metal ions such as arsenic, lead, and organic chemicals such as nerve agents may bind irreversibly at the active site and do not allow the usual formation of the enzyme-substrate complex. This can lead to toxic effects as they may block the catalytic groups present at the active site of the enzyme. Such inhibition is termed as irreversible inhibition.
