Interpretation:

The reason behind the inactivation of the enzyme at extreme $\text{pH}$ has to be determined.

Concept Introduction:

All physiological biochemical reactions work most efficiently under $\text{pH}$ of 7. This is often referred as the optimum $\text{pH}$. Variation in the $\text{pH}$ environment of the substrate or the cytoplasmic region affects the ability of enzyme to form the enzyme-substrate complex. This ultimately can reduce the speed and efficiency of biochemical reactions.
