Interpretation:

To explain the influence of chemical property of nuclei which damage the living organism when radioactive decay occurs.

Concept Introduction:

The chemical property of the nuclei is the property that changes when the mass number and atomic number of an element changes. The radiation is the radioactive source of energy having high frequency which can damage the human cell thus, harmful for the human beings. When a nuclei of an atom undergoes the radioactive decay then the particles like alpha, beta, and gamma are formed as by products.The radioactive decay of alpha particles results in decreases in the mass number by 4 and atomic number by 2 and decay of beta particles results in increases in the atomic number by 1 and no change in atomic mass number. Gamma decay results only in release of energy as the number of protons remain the same.
