Concept explainers
To Explain: It is important that monochromatic light was used to make interference pattern in the double slit investigation.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
When a light passes through two slits, it interferes constructively and destructively and forms a pattern on the screen. This is known as interreference pattern and appears in the form of light and dark fringes.
A monochromatic light was used in the double slit investigation. This is because, it would cause the interreference of light rays being in phase and vibrating with the same frequency; so, a clear and sharp interference pattern could be obtained.
Conclusion:
Monochromatic light was important to use in the double slit investigation to obtain sharp and good result.
