There are various methods of regulation of enzymatic activity such as feedback inhibition, usage of allosteric enzymes, synthesis of proenzymes, and covalent modification of a protein.
The method of protein modification is often achieved either via phosphorylation that activates the enzyme as in the case of lipase or dephosphorylation that deactivates the enzyme.
