Atoms with unstable nuclei are constantly changing as a result of the imbalance of energy within the nucleus. They constantly try to come to a stable state.This is possible when the nuclei of unstable isotopes spontaneously disintegratein a process known as radioactive decay. The massless radiations that are produced during this decay are called gamma rays. This leads to an atom with lower energy that is more stable and expulsion of high amounts of energy known as gamma radiations.
