Introduction:
The pituitary gland is a small pea-sized gland. It is related to the hypothalamus, both anatomically and functionally. The anterior pituitary is connected to the hypothalamus by blood vessels whereas the posterior pituitary is attached to the hypothalamus through a stalk (infundibulum).
