The function of reverse transcriptase in HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) and retrovirus reproductive cycle.

Introduction:

Retroviruses are viruses that have RNA (ribonucleic acid) as nucleic acid. Upon infection, it incorporates one copy of its genome into the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) of the host cell. They consist of envelope proteins, group specific antigen proteins, polymerase proteins, and proteases.

HIV is an example of retroviruses.
