Summary Introduction

To explain:

The role of the liver in the use of lipids.

Introduction:

Lipids are the organic compounds that comprise of fats, oils and phospholipids and cholesterol. Lipids supply energy for the cell metabolism and are used in the basic build-up of the cell membrane.

Our body can synthesize most of the fats from the food we consume, which are required by the body. However, some of the fatty acids are not synthesized by the body and are obtained directly from the food; these fatty acids are known as essential fatty acids. Lipids can be obtained from the plants as well as from the animals. Lipids can be classified as saturated and unsaturated fatty acids.

There are many differences between DNA replication happening during mitosis in a Douglas fir tree growing in the Oregon Cascade Mountains and DNA replication happening during a PCR reaction in a forestry research lab at Oregon State University where the laboratory is amplifying a Simple Sequence Repeat. Complete the following table that compares the two DNA replication events in terms of the primers, the nucleotides, the polymerase, and the target sequence. Additionally, give a general value for the number of copies of the template DNA after one S phase in one cell and after the lab has completed the PCR reaction.
