A piece of transparent plastic is molded into the shape of a converging lens, but it is hollow inside and has only a thin plastic wall. If immersed in water, would this air-filled lens act as a converging lens, act as a diverging lens, or not act as a lens at all?
Three lenses are placed in a row, separated by 12 cm. The first lens is a diverging lens with focal length 12 cm. The second is a converging lens with focal length 10 cm. The last is another diverging lens with focal length 8 cm. If an object is placed 24 cm to the left of the first lens, wehre will the final image occur? Will it be real or virtual?
A 3 cm tall object is placed 2 cm to the left of a converging lens that has a focal length with a magnitude of 4 cm. A diverging lens with a focal length of magnitude 8 cm is placed 10 cm to the right of the first lens.
What is the magnification of the final image produced by these two lenses? Make sure you say whether it is bigger/smaller and upright/inverted.
