Interpretation:

The approximate ranges of the pH scale for strongly acidic, weakly acidic, strongly basic, weakly basic, neutral, or close to neutral are to be stated. The liquid within the fish having pH=10.21 is to be classified.

Concept introduction:

The pH scale tells about the strength of an acid and a base. It measures the concentration of the hydrogen ions. There is an inverse relationship between the pH value and the concentration of the hydrogen ion. Higher the concentration of hydrogen ions, lesser the value of pH. There is an inverse relationship between the pOH value and the concentration of the hydroxide ion. Higher the concentration of hydroxide ions, lesser the value of pOH.
