Diabetes is a disease that occurs when the patient’s blood glucose is too high. Insulin is responsible for regulating the blood glucose level in the body. This hormone promotes the uptake of blood glucose by the liver and skeletal muscle cells. Any defect in insulin secretion may lead to elevated blood glucose levels in the body.
