A western blot is also termed as immunoblot. It is a testing method used to identify a particular protein molecule, for example, an antibody (complex mixture). General practitioner use western blot in order to confirm the occurrence of HIV antibodies or proteins (blood serum) against the bacterium that cause Lyme disease in human.
